A green resident was recently seen at Mirador San Jose. No it wasn’t an Alien, it was our first iguana sighting in the community. With the increase of greenery in the parks, boulevards and landscaped lots, the little guys are discovering Mirador San Jose as well. The harmless little creatures love to sleep in the trees and eat young plant shoots and fruits. In the wild they love to bask in the hot sun during the day as well. Many parks throughout South America have them as local residents due to the constant supply of easy food from people in the park and the safety of a secluded green space.
Primarily creatures of the greener and tropical rain forest micro climates, it is unusual to see the little guys in the dry tropical forests of coastal Ecuador. Whatever the case me be, we hope the little iguana finds a little place to call home in our community.
