Recently on a sunny and beautiful 33 degrees Celsius afternoon while strolling around the property at Mirador San Jose, one could not help to notice how beautiful the Whale Park was looking after a recent rain. It’s amazing in the tropics how everything seems to come to life after a nourishing rain. The Whale Park is named that because it is obviously the shape of a humpback whale, and clearly evident from a short distance from above.
Clearly a good reason to have a park named as such, because you can actually witness the humpback whales right at the beach front of Mirador San Jose. The humpback whale migrates every year to the coast of Ecuador to play and give birth to their offspring in the warm coastal waters and nutrient rich waters off Ecuador’s coast. You can witness the humpback whale at Mirador San Jose between June and October of every year during the migration. Watch them play in the water splashing their tails, spouting and surfacing all from your balcony or terrace. There are tours in the area available by boat to get you closer to the action, so be sure to bring your camera.
